When Water Finds It Way In….
Dealing with water damage from excessive rain can be overwhelming, but taking prompt and effective action can minimize the damage and help you restore your home. SERVPRO Team Rossum has some steps to follow:

1. Ensure Safety First

Before you do anything, ensure that it is safe to enter the affected area. Turn off the electricity to prevent any risk of electrocution. If the water level is high, avoid wading through it as it might be contaminated or hide hazards.

2. Stop the Water Source

If the water damage is due to a leak or burst pipe, turn off the main water supply. For rainwater, try to identify and block the entry points, such as broken windows or roof leaks, to prevent further water ingress. Stop the water at the sources before clean up begins.

3. Document the Damage

Take photos and videos of the affected areas and damaged items. This documentation will be crucial for insurance claims. Make a detailed list of all damaged items, including their approximate value. Insurance claims move quicker and more effectively if all the steps are taken.

4. Remove Standing Water

Contact SERVPRO Team Rossum to remove standing water. The quicker you can remove the water, the less damage it will cause. If the water level is too high, you might need to remove some drywall and other material. Properly-before Mold would develop.
